My final MA project at the Industrial Design Engineering department, Royal College of Art.

(de)light: liquid light
(de)light is a project that reinterprets the concept of light as we know it. de)light brings together the archetypical components of light -- lamp and bulb - from an atypical point of view. (de)light is about freeing light from its solid cage and bringing it back to its intangible essence. (de)light is the starting point for a new way of thinking about the everyday objects that surround us. (de)light poses an open question on how (beautiful) things can be.
(de)light is about envisioning a more enchanting future -- and making it real.

  • I forgot to say... there are no phosphorescent or fluorescent materials, so you don't need a UV light or a dark ambiance for them to glow.

  • it is a mixture of chemoluminescent materials that have been manipulated for making them more suitable for consumer use. However, you cannot drink them - sorry!

  • it's pretty much like the chemical they use to make glow stick right?

  • @diminicristi if i drink it will it make my eyes glow in the dark? i have night blindness, and i think this would help me a lot.

  • Where in the world did you find that clever light bulb drinking glass?

  • What is its shelf life?

  • Who says spunk (cum?) is not a valid art material? ;)

  • Looks like diphenyl oxalate. As I know it can be in various colors (adding Rhodamine B - turn it red, etc).

  • this stuff would be great for a blue man group type performance... how many different colours could you make like that?
