PERCY GRAINGER plays "Sheep and Goat Walkin' to the Pasture and Gigue from First Partia" on Columbia Masterworks 7134-M, recorded on ?-?-????. (Somebody help me out here... maybe the person writing the Columbia Masterworks Discography? I think this was recorded in the mid-30's.) Okay "band nerds," here is a man close to our hearts; our favorite sadomasochistic pianist, if you will. The word "eccentric" doesn't begin to describe this man. I could go on, but why? If you're reading this, you know the good stuff! Let's get to this particular piece, shall we? "Sheep and Goat Walkin' to the Pasture" was an American folk song that was supposedly arranged by Texan David Guion... but (pardon my ears) I hear A LOT of Grainger in this arrangement. The Bach's nice, too! I don't know.... I just like to hear Grainger play. Played on my 1926 Victor "Credenza," with an un-restored Orthophonic reproducer and a soft-tone steel needle. ENJOY! And remember- USE A NEW STEEL NEEDLE EVERY PLAY!
@Playedback Thank you so much for the info! I have seen the roll that is posted on YouTube.

According to the Percy Grainger CD Set "Complete 78rpm Solo Recordings" it dates from between 1925-1931. This recording (cat.nr. 7134M) also appears in a 1929 Columbia Record Catalogue, which lists records up to the Fall of 1928. Hope this helps a bit? Apparently Percy Grainger made a piano-roll of this fun tune as well. It was released in December 1926 and can be found here on YouTube too... Lovely Victrola you got there!
