Utena - Resistance Line

Hehe! Another Utena AMV, this time, with the movie!! I used the song "Resistance Line" by Michiko Naruke, which, oddly enough, if from the videogame Wild ARMs 2nd Ignition!! I thought it really fit, but I dunno... Let me know what you think!

Technically, this isn't a yuri anime-- It's an anime where every relationship is highly sexualized in order to display the damage done to ect ect, you can find these essays online. xD

Compare to the manga, which is the same storyline except the characters are portrayed as younger and less damaged, and therefore there is less sexualization, so Anthy and Utena's relationship was seen as purely platonic ('agape') as opposed to sexual/romantic.

Just throwing my two cents in; feel free to ignore.

@wastedfrustration The manga was extremely different in every sense from the show, and both are very different from the movie.

In this film, Utena and Anthy's relationship is explicitly romantic. One of the overriding themes of Utena is that people become trapped by unhealthy relationships, and need to break out of those patterns to move on. Yes, most of the relationships are problematic, but U+A is portrayed as a potential solution (ie, the road not yet taken), NOT a problem.

Is this the movie? Man, its been a while since I've seen Utena (._. ) I never got a chance to finish watching the anime, and I think I only had 3 episodes to go lol I'll make sure to catch up xD
