The song was written by Wyoming singer Ian Tyson and was covered early on by the late Chris LeDoux, but it seems that Suzy Bogguss was meant to sing this song. I'm glad she did! The pedal steel on the original recording is one of my favorites of the 80s/90s.

not ONE super star in female country music today)and you know who you are) have the talent of this singer... it is a shame that country music has become what it is today...
