The song was written by Wyoming singer Ian Tyson and was covered early on by the late Chris LeDoux, but it seems that Suzy Bogguss was meant to sing this song. I'm glad she did! The pedal steel on the original recording is one of my favorites of the 80s/90s.

Whenever Vince Gill begins his song "WHenever You Come Around," I think he must be singing about Suzy Bogguss..."Voice of an angel..." Yeah, I miss her voice in music.
