singer/ female impersonator MISTY

MISTY, was a dutch singer/ female impersonator,wellknown and popular during the 1970`s-1980`s.MORE: He was born in Rotterdam where he lived all of his life and where he died ,April 2001. He was a good friend of mine and this video was made for him and all of his fans in Rotterdam , Holland. Misty performed always LIVE , never did lipsinching and only performed with live musicians.At one point during the 1970`s, he even travelled Holland and Belgium with full orchestra. He was always regarded as a real artist with an artistic heart.Not just another transvestite. He sang french chansons just as easy as he did the american jazz songbook or songs from Berlin in the 1920`s-`30`s .....He also had his dutch fans in his hometown Rotterdam,for which he sang his special Rotterdam programme with the very old songs of that city...
Colourful people like Nico/Misty are sadly missed. He combined, intellect and artisticity with knowhow of the songs he sang. The artist he most admired were : Marlene Dietrich, Zarah Leander,Edith Piaf, Eartha Kitt and so on...

Wat leuk , Barend. En wat jammer dat Nico dit niet meer mee kan maken . Ik denk dat hij alleen al voor Youtube om zou willen leren gaan met een PC ( waar hij anders een hardgrondige hekel aan had: hij wilde wel dat ik dingen opzocht, maar verder wilde hij met nieuwe technologie niks te maken hebben ,hahaha).

Oh how lovely to see. I actually reached out to the screen to touch Nico's face. Such an incredible person. Am now thinking back to the days (and long long nights) when we sat at the bar at the Consul and sang songs together. Beautiful.

I know Misty for more than 10 years.She was a part of my history.Always in the mood for a drink a song or listen to a record. Or drinking coffee in the old tramhouse.She was Rotterdam and i hope there will be more to remember Nico / Misty. Still in my memory. Thanks for this monument.
