I was in the Kanile'a shop this past May. I saw #1 of these on the wall. Mike the manager told me about this uke and he said the sand was from Kailua beach down the road. The sand is not only in the rosette but around the purfling and in the headstock.
This thing costs $4K. I'm guessing the one with the inlayed Hawaiian flag will cost more. I'm thinking I should have bought the sucker but I would have spent over $6K because I had just bought another gorgeous chocolate colored tenor.

Whoa I can't believe I actually got to play on one of those! I got to play on the 3rd one made out of 50 except mine had a hawaiian flag inlay on the fretboard. I actually have a video of me playing on one if you check out my channel!
