This Fall, Belkin will be shipping it's next generation FM transmitter for iPods. It'll be the smallest the California maker released so far and includes the "ClearScan" feature that tells what is the best and clearest FM station to turn to, to listen to your iPod content. The TuneBase plugs into the cigarette lighter and the iPod through the integrated cradle. It also has a line out to connect to your radio if it has a line in and includes a high contrast display. TubeBase will be priced at around $90. The TuneCast Auto has similar feature set than the TuneBase but with a different form factor: it includes a 3.5 ft long cable to the iPod, instead of the cradle, so you can control it while driving... not sure that's legal though... even in California ;-)
TuneCast Auto will be sold at $80.

  • Wrong bro. I don't think they got them 'til '98. I would have to take out the head unit and probably wire it into the back somehow, and that just ain't worth it.

  • Sure there is, you just have to find it.

  • My '97 Explorer has a CD player with 6 disc changer in the center console and there's no Audio Auxiliary port.

  • Considering you got a CD player you can hook up your mp3 with the Audio Auxiliary port.

  • What if you have a CD player only or only AM/FM like my 2000 Ford Police Interceptor? The cassette adapter would be useless. I do have one for my '97 Explorer but it only works with cassette players. And why spend $50 buying a cassette radio for my car when I can just get an FM transmitter for $20?

  • ye but cassette adaptors don't work in cd players does it? so you need an fm transmitter to connect your ipod

  • i have a belkin fm transmitter and bought it for like 90 bux and there is so much static it is terrible. I just bought one of those cassettes with the cable and i rekon it will be a lot clearer. So i agree with you.

  • Exactly. and quality is WAY WAY superior.

  • yea i know thats what i do but not on a fm transmitter. Alpine connction.

  • Thats why you create a driving playlist.
