Please watch in High Quality..!

Maybe its time to do a new upload of Rolling Stock, Mad Bomber..
Way back in early 2007 when it was uploaded file size was limited, these days larger files are allowed, also doing a crop and pull from 4:3 to 16:9
which is something a little different.

Settings used to convert 4:3 to 16:9 using Adobe Premiere.

Note 1, Video is still slightly distorted, but it serves as a cheat for youtube uploads.

Note 2, As youtube has no over scan area titles can be pushed out to edge of the 16:9 viewing area, so this method is not suitable for videos exported for viewing on TVs as the titles may encroaching over the title safe area.

I use Adobe Premiere, set up a project in Wide screen format 16:9

Import your 4:3 aspect video, add to timeline, remember you should be working in a 16:9 format for this project.

Add Crop to video select these settings.
Crop Left 1
Crop Right 1
Crop Top 8
Crop Bottom 8

Add Sharpen filter ( I use canopus plug in filter here) apply 20%, its dependant on clip you may need to apply more or less.

Tweak the Brightness and Contrast, and a tiny amount of Chroma as you have basically zoomed in on the video, its going to need a touch up to look good..!

De-interlace video when exporting.

Thats basically it, its a little rough and ready but simple to apply.

  • ok, i have adobe premier elemenets 4, how do i start in 16:9 format?

  • The way I do a conversion is a little strange, I start a project in 16:9, I pull in the old 4:3 footage.

Then I do a few things..

Add a sharpen filter to the video..

Add a crop filter to the video, pulling it out to a 16:9 look, sure you could do this several different ways.

More details are in the more info part of this video.

  • What make is that Thunderbird 2????

  • Matchbox I believe..

  • where did you get that big thunderbird 2? and does it move? like does the pod go inside it?

  • It's a static non moving model, the pod does go inside the craft. I believe it is Matchbox brand.

  • what is a thunder bird

  • @leokimvideo

It moves freely up and down on its own legs, and its a model made by TAKARA not Matchbox, who did the "cheaper" version :)

  • rofl

  • 4:3 is better than 16:9 !

I know you can't understand that! It's ok, you're not alone!

  • awesome

  • I got so scared tthat thomas was gonna die.. JOKES! anyways howd u convert it?

  • yes

  • he made it less that 720p (1280x720), but still 16:9 aspect ratio

  • how did u make hq?

  • Hey thanx for sharing the info in the "more info" section. I used 3 camers in a project. ! HDV & 1 DV and one hand held sony still cam that takes movies(just for effect) I used the scale option to bring the sony cam fully into a 19:9 frame but it's REALLY jumpy - got any tips on how to stabalize the footage - I will try your crop technique and see if I can make it work. All input is muchly appreciated - thanx for sharing the knowledge..
