The first production DC-10 departing Detroit Metro Airport in May 1989.
Operating as Flight AAL 219 to Dallas Ft. Worth DFW
This prototype aircraft, originally N10DC, was re-registered N101AA with American Airlines (1972 -2000). Sadly it was scrapped in 2002

  • Scrapped in 2002? Why didn't they just call me? I would have taken it.

  • @aaroncar I'm actually surprised Boeing didn't take it. It would have looked great at the museum on static display

  • Does anyone know where it was going. My "guess" would be ORD, DFW, LGA, JFK, or maybe IAD.

  • @TomsFriendKake This was a flight to Dallas DFW.. I'll post info in the description

  • @AcepilotC172 I love looking through old time-tables and the OAG, airline travel in the 1970's and 80's was so different than today. But the thing to remember is that today, AA offers more frequencies, thus smaller planes. But yeah, I miss the old days. Besides, isn't 5 or 6 flights a day between DTW and DFW enough, rather than 10 or 12? I wish airlines would fly bigger planes with fewer frequencies.

  • 1:38 Random 727 (most likely Continental) appears out of nowhere.

  • Ya I agree with KuostA...That spool up was insane. I turned my speakers up ;)

  • Amazing how you don't see wide bodies on domestic flights anymore...anymore this is all MD-80 or RJ equipment.

  • @aaroncar Me too I love DC-10s!!!!! When i learn to fly I will get one of thoses beauties :DDDDDDDand there cute too!

  • A beautiful journey back in time

  • @jjouney I know right! Scrapping such a beautiful aircraft should be illegal!!!!

  • This is the very same DC-10 used in the AA commerical back in 71. You all should watch this vid, you will see her being torn up as well :(( watch?v=U9rEhW8SWcU&feature=related

  • The DC-10 is a CLASSIC airliner!! I remember flying on it a few times during the 1980s including overseas.
