My first video displayed for the public eye. ^^ I just learned how to use my built-in webcam last night, so I decided to practice and Angel would be my star for the time-being. Yet I've been wanting to get her story out for a while now - though, it's a little cheesy ^^;

Her overall, more detailed story began around 3 years ago when my mom, sister and I were heading home. It was really dark and it was snowing (we had about 1-2 ft of snow at the time) and we were passing the local animal shelter.

A few months earlier, we had lost our two dogs - Chester and Tippi - due to old age and cancer. My parents were against having anymore dogs since we had 3 cats to care for.

For some reason and in SOME WAY (mind you it's dark AND snowing) my mom sees a dot in one of the outruns to the shelter. She automatically assumes it's a dog that had been left out and gets infuriated that the shelter left an animal outside. I was cranky at the time and just wanted to get home and assured her a no-kill shelter wouldn't do that.

She was persistent, so we drove back and my mom kicked me out to traverse through the snow to find out if the dot was a dog.

It was a puppy, almost completely black, probably about 6-8 weeks old on the other side of the fence. In response to this (the fences were almost 7 ft high) I hurry back to the car, tell my mom and sister and the three of us start banging on the shelter's front door.

There's no response even though there's a car other than ours sitting in the parking lot. Five minutes into it, my mom's bent on going home and getting something to cut the fence apart when someone finally comes to the door.

A woman from the cleaning crew opens up and asks what wrong (it's about 10 PM) and we tell her they left a puppy in the outrun. She frowns before allowing us inside, she gets some keys and heads out. She brings back the little black puppy before calling the manager of the shelter. The manager shows up and tells us we saved the puppy, they wouldn't have discovered her till another 10-12 hours where she would have frozen to death.

Apparently someone hadn't read the big, bold sign out front that read "Do not abandon animals on our property - illegal! Take them inside and give them to us!" or something along those lines. Her previous owner had dropped her over the 7 ft fence and into the snow. Somehow she came out unharmed without a bruise to speak of.

In the end, the 3 of us were smitten with the puppy. All we had to do now was convince my dad (who was still at work.) We adopted her right there and brought her home and prepared to confront my dad.

Sitting in the dining room with the now, very warm and tired puppy waiting for Dad. He finally comes home and at first, stares at the puppy.

"What the hell is that?" he thought we had gone out and gotten the puppy without his permission (we kinda did.) We told him what happened and he just said since we still had our dog supplies and whatnot we could keep her, but she was our responsibility.

My sister came up with the name, I was against it at first since Angel was black! Shadow wasn't an option since it was so common, but something better, I had thought. Angel stuck and she was somewhat difficult to potty-train.

Ironically, being the one not wanting to stop and check, Angel became my best friend and we've bonded the most. When it's late, she sits next to me no matter what I'm doing and whines, telling me to go to bed so she can sleep with me.

Well, that's her story. The only tricks she knows is "sit" and "shake," "lay down" is in progress. LOL

Thanks for watching!
