Internationally acclaimed for her fusion of African and Latin rhythms, Benin-born singer and songwriter Angélique Kidjo continues to transcend boundaries and unite people with her music. Her latest album, Oyaya!, is a testament to Ms. Kidjo's belief that there is a universalism of spirit and joy that spans the globe and unites all people. Nominated for three Grammy awards, Ms. Kidjo began her singing career at the age of six and later moved to Paris, where she studied jazz and attended law school to pursue a career as a human rights lawyer. "I want to inspire people to work to help educate, nourish and protect our children."

Throughout her career, this commitment to helping children living in poverty never left the dedicated singer. Ms. Kidjo promoted the importance of universal primary education through the Say Yes for Children campaign involving a coalition of organizations, including NetAid. Her deep commitment to children permeates her life, and since 2000, she has generously offered her time and talents as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, focusing on improving and protecting the lives of children around the world.
