Ignite Waterloo captures the best of Waterloo Region geek culture in a series of five-minute speed presentations on a diverse range on topics.
The goal, says organizer Joseph Fung, is "Enlighten us ... but do it quickly."
The first event, held Nov 25, 2009, at the Waterloo Regional Children's Museum, featured 16 speakers. Among them:
• Aden Seaman explains the secrets of the Rubik's Cube
• Jaclyn Konzelmann examines the process of teaching and learning.
• Dr. Matt Renaud's research on High Altitude Medicine has a practical goal.
• Engineer Jonathan Fishbein introduces the Real Africa.
• Jason Sim explores the reality of second life.
• Simon Clark shares the joy of Hacking the Hood.
• David Estill waxes poetic about solar energy.
I second that!
