DJ Tutorial Acapela's are not always in time
--------------
acapela is "Talkin all that jazz" by Stetsasonic, loop is Cameo "Candi"
------------------
points to remember, An acapela is not always in time, the rapper may speak the words off time, BUT! there will be continuity in how he/ she talks.

  • "i cant spell to save my wife"

    hahahaha

  • a basic example of this is in the song BLACK & WHITE BROTHERS - PUT YOUR HANDS UP IN THE AIR.

for example you can take the words "put your hands up in the air" for a sample/mix.

let's imagine | represent a cue point, so...

the right position to start cue for a sample/mix, is at "put your h|ands up..." ;)

but some guys start the cue for sample/mix at "p|ut your hands up..." making it wrong xD

  • djs are natural born born musicians youve done it again

  • ellaskins, your advice is sage.

  • Hy!To me off beat acapella with or with out beat in it,sound better because in my ears sounds rog snare with first sound voice! And off beat i really hear what it s say him or she!

  • And it's for this reason I have been subscribed to your channel. Fantastic tips. Cheers mate!

  • Lots of songs use what musicians call syncopated notes and rhythms. sometimes the first part of a lyric comes on the off/down beat, other times it can start between the beats. if you are new to this try singing/rapping the song in your head in time with the music already playing to get a feel for when to bring in your acapella. it does take practice and some songs can be quite tricky to get right when you first try. hope this helps someone.

  • hi :)

  • ellaskins you are so freaking epic man !!! that was the coolest sample of a "sample" i have heard in a long time!

  • Gys. i would say.. put the acapella in a sequencer ( FL , Ableton etc and warp it to the tempo on a kick drum at the bpm of the orignal tune ! ) For ppl who want acapella.. Commercial Releases acapella will be avaliable in various Sites like acapellablog.co.uk , but u can always make ur acapella ( not 100% clean ) but will serve the purpose using various techniques like Phase cancellation , Center Channel Extraction etc ! Hope this helps u :)
