If someone - anyone - produced a high performance sports car with a diesel powertrain capable of producing fuel economy equal to that of a little 4 cylinder economy car...well that automaker would have a hit on his hands, guaranteed! Mitsubishi could be one of the first out of the gate if they take their new concept into production. The Mitsubishi RA is not only gorgeous, not only fast, and not only exotic, it's a diesel. C'mon Mitsubishi, get this baby into production! David Barrett spoke with Chief Designer David O'Connell about his breakthrough concept and got a tour of the new Ra.

  • Yes, the RA was a huge hit - and although it won't make it to production as-is, a lot of the tech, including the cool engine are quite likely to show up in a MITSU near you.

  • @johnnynismo ahaha)) i noticed that too))

  • Really would like them to take this into production as the next turbo 3000gt.

  • I kinda want a car with over 200 pounds of horse power now...

  • you cant have a sports car with only 200hp unless it weighs almost nothing

  • ME WANTS IT! DAMN FAST and FUEL EFFICIENT and JUST BEAUTIFUL

  • @jonathan390 well, diesel for high rpm and performance is a challenge.but 40% fuel efficiency is far from the ~20% that other engines have. more distance less gas.

Also, diesel engines are the first engines to use injection. technology on diesel engines are better, you get more and more from a diesel engines and it never lets you down.they are also more enviroment friendly, cheaper to maintain, less likely to break down.

ugly? check bmw M1, the seem alike.

your awareness makes you happy :)

  • the camara man just came...

  • @CPTJJ88 NO! ITS MINE!

  • @mrfrogbot

There is always the Volkswagen Jetta and Golf TDI cars but they are a little on the pricy side.

  • bout dam time some auto makers r takin the diesel hint.

they make more torque than a gas motor, burn fuel more efficiently, spin slower, and typicly improve mileage by a crapload.

hell im still drivin a Ram-50 with the Mitsu 2.3L TD in it stock and its been going stong for a loooong time and will be for a long time yet
