@wolfgang0070 He certainly doesn't appear to be "depressed" neither plainly nor simply, although like all great inventors I would be surprised if he wasn't a little bit of a nutter :)

@wolfgang0070 He is regarded as being "independent" because he doesn't work for a university or corporation. He works on the projects he cares about, and he is a fantastic scientist. What rationality are u talking about? Science isn't dependent solely on collaboration simply because good science doesn't depend on any single factor other than that the scientific method is observed.

It's funny how he refers to JPL as something that is barely known. I run around it everyday; my school is right next to it! I realize that this wasn't a point of his lecture, but it's amazing to be a part of something that helped him reach brilliance!

@wolfgang0070 hell he isnt! does he really strike u as a sad person? not at all! hes 90 years of age now, a passionate, independent scientist and enjoys walking 5 miles a day with his wife. this is what life can be about, real pleasure, intellectual challenge rather than plain consumption of goods of any kind.
