This is the comprehensive howto on modifying a Saulabi 4K joystick with authentic Korean arcade parts, as well as adding dual functionality for the PS3 and Xbox 360. This video series spans 6 parts.
Here are links for the specific parts I used in my video, save for the wiring and soldering equipment, which I picked up at my local Radio Shack:
Casing - Saulabi 4K:

Buttons - Crown 203C (Green):

A special thank you to Laugh from SRK and eTokki.com for sending me these 203A buttons to make this howto comprehensive:

If you use the most recent Madcatz Xbox 360 wired controller for a circuit board to dual mod, you will need to follow this guide to wire it up:
http://shoryuken.com/f177/how-padhack-08-09-madcatz-4716-common-ground-xbox-3...
If you use other, common ground Xbox 360 pads (and they MUST be common ground), you can ask in this thread to find out your problems, or answer any questions before you begin:

If you have any other questions about this mod, please leave a comment, or PM myself (Missing Person) or laugh on SRK and we will try to help you as best as we can. You can also visit this thread as well (which this video tutorial is based on):

Also of note is that the wooden Korean sticks are modded in the same way, but open up differently (you need to take a flathead screwdriver to the cracks on the side and pry it open):

And if you haven't already noticed, you can visit eTokki.com for all your Korean joystick needs, as well as Sanwa and Seimitsu parts, shipped from Korea at affordable prices!
@Torlan47, the stock stick is decent. Has leaf microswitches that hold up okay, but I never really messed with it. The buttons are crap, and should most definitely be replaced.

does anybody know if you can mod a sanwjlf with the korean arcade stick rubber?
skillthatkillz9 1 year ago
@skillthatkillz9 I've never seen it done, but I would assume, since the JLF housing is created with spring resistance in mind, there would be no room in the housing to fit a rubber grommet from a Fanta.
Moreover, etokki no longer stocks individual grommets, so in order to get one, plus a JLF, you would also have to buy a Fanta anyway.
I have seen a mod on SRK where someone put a JLF shaft in a Myoungshin Fanta, so that's always possible. Don't know how, but it is.

im looking to get a stick...but why do you buy the Saulabi 4k if your just going to replace everything?? only for the case? why not make a case instead?
Warzinak 1 year ago
@Warzinak Because it was cheaper for me. I bought mine in Korea, so it was 55000 won (about $55) with zero shipping. A custom case, since I'm not a woodworker, would've cost $95-120, then I would've still had to buy the parts and circuit boards. This came with the PS3 board, all I needed was $40 in parts and a $9 imp board. So it was more cost effective.
