Short flight showing the new "fly-by" view mode. Aircraft is a Hunter flying out of PHNL.

NOTE: this was captured with xvidcap so apparent frame rates are jerky and abismal, but that is not representative of FlightGear running natively on my machine.

  • In the v1.0 version and later it's built in. Use "v" and "V" to cycle through the available views. Use "Ctrl-V" to return to the cockpit view.

  • Cool, nice video, 5*

  • Thanks, if I had better video capture capabilities it would have been a lot smoother, but still interesting. Shows the new fly-by viewer feature of FlightGEar

  • Hi. I have been trying to download more scenery from the FG site. I downloaded 3 sections of the US in the SanFransisco area. Then I extracted the files using 7-Zip. It says to place the extracted files into the Terrain folder. Which I have done.

C: - programe files - flightgear - data - scenery - Terrain, but nothings changed.

Inside the Terrain folder there is another folder (w130n30) inside of which are 2 more folders (w122-n37 & w123n37) inside which are many files. AHH Please help!!

  • This reminds me a bit of camera #5 on Wings of War. Good old WoW.. and the soundtrack! Better than a simple "put-put" of the WWI aircraft, its a classical orchestra playing in the background... Moving away from Windows has its downsides.

  • How do you enable the fly-by mode?

  • HyperCam is not free, is not open source and is only built for Windows.

  • You can, there's a program capped Hypercam, which has many flexible recording on screen capabilites. I hight recommend you use it!

  • Nice. Is that Hawaii?
