@mooginable I kinew some of the guys in that band. Jimmy & Paul on trumpets, I knew Junnie as well, Wayne & Charles too. Never see them guys any more.
This song was recorded @ the Raven Studio on Piney Forest Road, Danville, Va. John Irby was a good friend of mine and I was waiting for him to get through. John Irby took me to the bus station when I left for the Army in 1967. Sorry to say I didn't see much of John after that. Still after 44 years this song still sounds great!!! Great band!!!!!
What Ive always loved about Youtube is that it brings our old tunes out for both the newcomers who dont know the treack and all the guys who loved it the first time round and didnt maybe get the love it deserver back then. These sounds have always had a place in the hearts of us Niter goers, and I hope the love doesnt die with our generation as we dont get the younger peeps at the soul dos now, It the 40s/50s/60s peeps going to them.
I played in The Soulmasters for a couple of years in the 60's. The flip side was "You Took Away the Sunshine". We were a 10 piece band that played all over the south.
great spul sound--what year?
