  • Long toss for 8 year olds usually doesn't happen too often, it's more for about 10 years or older. But if he wants to try the distance should be whatever he is comfortable with, don't be struggling to make the distance. Duration again should be something comfortable, it's basically a "long distance catch" not seeing how far or long you can throw.

  • For those of you who tend to throw further and cannot find other who can do long toss, make sure you still step into your throws and get a slight launch angle. You can throw straighter which if fine, just focus on a full motion and using the whole body, not just the upper body or throwing arm.

  • whats a good exercise to get your arm stronger, cause i do the throwing technique proper but i want to throw father?

  • @frank123612 Gaining distance on long toss will happen slowly. Focus on accuracy and technique, your arm strength and distance will follow. Throwing over the top will create further throws, and a solid backspin. Remember to use the legs and drive down the line to your target. Don't try to throw with everything you've got, long toss is a 70% - 80% exercise, not a 100% throw like you're trying to throw someone out at home. Last, find someone who can comfortably throw the same distance. Good luck.

  • Two questions about long toss:

    1. What would be considered a good long toss distance for an eight-year-old?

    2. How long should the session last?

  • @mikescottbaseball I usually throw at 90-100% when I'm doing longtosses, but I throw like 15-20 meter further then the rest of my team, should I just aim lower so the ball goes more straight to them?

excuse my bad English, I'm from holland :)

  • @mikescottbaseball THANK YOU, i play slowpitch softball so the ball is about twice the size of a baseball and little bit heavier
