um..I have never seen this before. The idea of seeing subliminal messages and aliens through special sunglasses seems to be a cheesy plot. I love cheese, but I can't see John Carpenter doing a cheesy horror movie. He's usually dead serious with this movies. Is this a good movie? Is it worth it?

It is worth it, i promise you. seek it out, its funny as well as serious, the message the film has is well hidden, replace the aliens, with the elite powers that be, that is the commentary the film is giving =)

Hollywood would answer - As long as it makes money we will remake it. They think that if a franchise movie brings in the dough because people want to see it then why bother with something new and risky.

Hollywood DOES need to spend more money on script writers as opposed to special effects. Special effects nowadays ain`t so special anymore. . . sure when Jurasic Park and Terminator II came out CGI was a new & awesome , but now most movies are in a dire need of a good original story.

@compsciguy Youve probably seen the film by now so you might already know that the film is a kind of satire, which is why the whole sunglasses thing seems cheesy, although there is a reason why the sunglasses work which I wont spoil, in case you havent seen the film yet.

@konman001 no kidding. A large amount of movies that come out now are just complete shit. Even the few that are good don't compare to any of the classics like this or the thing. I'm expecting the new "The thing" to suck ass compared to the original simply because they changed the whole formula for the worse. A female lead, a more happy/jolly group of people and their norwegan so some of the dialet probably won't be understandable. Oh and the biggest one of all, the monster is going to be part CG
