First half of the first ride of the second part of this project, which will run from 1-15-08 to 4-15-08. Twelve degrees Fahrenheit outside. There's not much place to put snow, so the bicycle lane is sacrificed in some areas.
I haven't found that the temperature ever gets cold enough in the Boston area to stop me from riding. On the coldest days, which are around zero F, I'll wear long underwear, wool socks, hiking shoes, standard long pants, a long-sleeved T-shirt, sweatshirt, water-resistant and wind-resistant jacket, balaclava liner, goggles and lobster claw gloves. I think this would be comfortable down to about -20 to -10. If you Google for "icebike", that website has great techniques for cold weather riding.

It's chilly, but with the right clothing and gear, it's not really uncomfortable.
