@RoyalAlba1 They are all hideous now! The "lawyer-proofing" has caused most short-barreled guns to have terribly heavy trigger pulls.

@2guntom is the trigger on the S&W j frame better or worse then the ruger SP-101 snubby??

What?

I agree with you. People fuss about new things. Its something that is nice to have. No need for a cheap gun locks that are out there. I have never had an issue with mine. I love it and its the gun I love to carry because its so light.

That was one of the old ones w/o the lock. I have not had any trouble smoothing out the new ones either. People fuss and whine about the integral lock, but they have never given me any issue.

Is your Model 640 one of the old ones or a new one with a side lock. I was told to stay away from the new ones as they are a pain to work on with that lock there. Also, I was told (again by my gunsmith) IF I bought a new one I'd have to replace the trigger and hammer with the old parts as the new hammers have holes in them and are difficult to work with in doing action jobs. I have to drive 60 miles to see my gunsmith but he is good. So, just wanted to know if your 640 was an old one. Thx.

Thank you. Yes, I'm a gunsmith. An action job on a j-frame S&W is completely different than an SP101. Find a competent, reputable 'smith to do your work.

I always wear ear PLUGS. They seal tighter than muffs and offer better hearing protection
