Don't you think such songs exaggerate the actions of dictators? I am in no way saying that Chiang Kai-Shek should not be allocated the respect he deserves, but considering that this song was made during his lifetime, it sort of contradicts the whole idea of a democracy - which the ROC wasn't to begin with.

@ragabara Song was actually made after his death. No person in their right minds would allow for a memorial song to be made whilst they were still alive. Considering Chiang's typical traditional Chinese background, to have a memorial song be written whilst he was still alive is almost certainly taboo; writing the song while he's still alive is like trying to condemn him to his death.

As for dictator or not, Imma need some examples to start deliberating with.

@LiouTao you certainly paint a rather gloomy picture of it all. i sure hope it wont come to that but you may be right. also, perhaps its my age showing. im much older than you. i would state it a little differently. war is never the answer. unfortunately it is a dangerous last resort. the r.o.c. cannot do it by themselves they need the u.s. perhaps other allies as well.  ive heard there is much support for the r.o.c. on the mainland. but chinas' military is huge on the ground.
