agree to disagree on the voting thing. gay marriage is illegal in most states now, but the supreme court case on DOMA may force all states to recognize the marriage of a same sex couple that comes from a state where their marriage was legal, effectively making it legal everywhere. time will tell. I believe you are thinking of the term Americas, which refers to the Western Hemisphere of the planet, and is comprised of both North America and South America. When GHOST said America as a standalone word, he was referring to the USA. It is actually commonplace for people to do that. And seeing that people that live in the USA are called Americans, it only seems fitting to refer to the USA as its shortened name, "America."
