Long Islands First Annual Brain Aneurysm Awareness Walk was held on October 3, 2009 and was sponsored by North Shore-LIJs Brain Aneurysm Center, the Harvey Cushing Institutes of Neuroscience and the National Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
One in 50 Americans is at risk of having a brain aneurysm and each year, approximately 30,000 to 50,000 people suffer a ruptured brain aneurysm. Over $45K was raised to help bring awareness and fund research to help fight this potentially devastating event.

My Mom just passed from a brain aneurysm on Jan. 29 2011....she was 55 yrs old. Its not the frist time this has taken from my family though my grandfather also passed from the same kind of aneurysm at age 55 yrs also, he was her father.....at the hospital the day my mother passed they told us we should all be checked asap because it seems to be genetic in our family.
