Well this was the 60's.The reason that darren doesnt like sam using her powers is bcoz at that time it went against the power balance between a husband and wife.Usually socio- economic considerations are the noraml power pointers but witchcraft is something that very obviously underlines his inferiority - as a man, as a husband and most imporatantly as a mortal.
