Another tower clock in my collection.......this is a 1892 Phillip Horz of Ulm Germany. This particular mechanism is a 4 train tower clock with 1 minute Endless Chain Remontoire. The "remontoire" of this clock allows the escapement to be free from the elements: ice, wind, snow, birds, etc. that might affect the time keeping ability through friction from the hands back to the mechanism. When the "remontoire" is activated you would then see the hands of the clock move one minute ahead instead of second by second.
I have replaced several bushings and mechanically the clock functions great, but I have yet to do any restoration for the finish. I would like to shine up the brass and steel works of the clock, but keep the original paint by just cleaning it.
Never seen anything like that... The small weight attached to the second wheel, via an endless chain and raised every 30 seconds. That gives a clock that advances it's hands every 30 seconds...

I take it that this was also a "striking" clock at one time?
