Bank of America recently sponsored Collegiate Challenge, Habitat for Humanity's alternative spring break program. More than 700 students from 32 American and Canadian schools volunteered to participate in the program. Foregoing the traditional spring break, the participating students worked on Liberty City homes under construction by Miami Habitat. The students worked on various construction activities, such as roofing, carpentry and dry wall installation. The emphasis of Collegiate Challenge focused on preparing homes for further volunteer participation during Habitat's Blitz Build 2011. The student's expressed that their participation in Collegiate Challenge was not only very rewarding, but also provided an opportunity to meet other students as well as the future Habitat homeowners. Collegiate Challenge, which takes place during March and April is a yearly Miami Habitat event.
