On the 8th of january 2010, these 300 people of a street outside Luxor got the message, at 8 o'clock in morning, that their houses will be demolished in a couple of hours.
Without offering a new flat, or piece of ground. After demolsh they will receive a financial compensation of LE75000. Remind: 1 square meter costs about LE3000 in Luxor. So they cannot buy land, not money enough to built... maybe rent a small flat, a fourth in size what they have... Where to sleep? It is not a new story.... But the people requested me to put this on internet... So you will know..... Do know that these comments they make in arabic are perhaps illegal, and jailtime is possible. Even after I made this remark, they insist on publishing. So when you come to Luxor as a tourist, and see the nice 'western'streets... the government pulled their houses down because they were embareshed that the tourist would see their poor livingstandards... Know.. that these people where happy with wat the had.
