@jeezuschryst Depends what your going for. My marshall solid state has a nice overdrive for practice and quiet playing but i would never waste money on a solid state for the loud stuff.

It's a tube pre-amp. I've played tons of hybrid amps like that - correctly designed, you can get the best of both worlds - correctly designed you get the squash of a full valve amp, but with the reliability of solid-state. Plus you'll get much better cleans. Thumbs up for the hybrid approach from me.

@jeezuschryst i dont know what youve been playing on but ive played a few good solid state amps like a marshall , rogue, peavey, and vox all have good sounding solid state amps
