I've played rugby and football.

Rugby is much tougher in the sense that you need to be fit and are constantly getting hit and scraped.

However football in general, has much much harder hits.

One thing you will learn if you have never played football before is that pads and helmets are primarily weapons, to inflict pain on your opponent.

Yes there are big hits in rugby, Brian Lima etc. But there are much much more in football.

Both games are tough but in different ways.

@meinvue rugby has plenty of blind side shots its called general play u can get hit from any direction if u got the ball. if u dont have the ball u can stil get smashed at the ruck. american football is soft as shit cos there is a different team for offense, defence etc etc. what a load of crap! rugby is 80 minutes flat out with the same team on the park, i'd like to see just 1 of NFL's big boys last 40 minutes in rugby union. people get knocked out in horse riding too, whats your point!?
