Pilot Robert Spurr and cameraman Wally Makuchal, Jr. test fly a scratch built Piper Pacer remote control model airplane at the Girdletree RC Airfield on a calm and mild day. This model is considered 1/3 scale with a 120 inch wingspan and working aviation lights which run on seperate battery from receiver. It weighs 37 lbs. and flies in a very mild and predictable manner. The plane is powered by a Super Tiger G4500 45cc glow engine swinging a 22 x 8 wooden prop. Control is handled by a Futaba FP-T7UAF Super 7 FM computer radio.

  • It started life as a Tri-Pacer but we later changed it to a tail dragger. Sorry for the misleading title.

  • No, I think it was scratch built from enlarged plans...not sure who the designer was. It's no longer a tri pacer, it's been converted to a pacer (tail-dragger). This plane is currently for sale because it's too heavy to hang from my shop ceiling.

  • Cool model, but isn't a tri-pacer. The tri-pacer was called that because of the tricycle landing gear.

  • Was that built from Wendell Hostetler plans?
