@STINGERNUTZ A drop of water on the rake metal will not touch the fascia, it falls vertically. However, there ought to be some space between the bottom of the face boards cladding bold so if water did get in there it would not be touching wood. A bead of Butyl rubber caulk on the corner seams would be a good idea to prevent wind blown water from entering. I'd also consider a 6 inch piece of flashing on the fascia corners, then the rake metal over that and then the fascia metal.

why on earth would you run rake trim behind fascia trim .............. disaster in the making ............ water runs downhill .............. run your j then soffit, then return, then fascia, then rake metal ............ folding your rake metal behind your fascia trim metal is so incorrect it's not even funny ............ how can someone make a how to video and not know what they are talking about ............

Yeah that is generally how you want to do it. Your hip fascia first that way it can't run behind the fascia and rot out your board. It isn't the biggest deal at the end of the day but in my opinion you should consider the little things like this.

@thedonald11154 You wouldn't want to use vinyl fascia. Use aluminium. Basically your hip fascia goes on first with a little bend on the corner going around onto the gable end to make sure the corner looks all pretty and is a little more water resistant. Make sure you start at the bottom/lowest piece of your fascia working up to the peak of the gable. That way when/if water hits the fascia board and runs down that it runs down and falls otno instead of rolling under the next piece of fascia.

I am no construction expert but wouldnt you put the front fascia on first and bend the corners around then let the sides over lap the front part . Looks to me the way you did it allows water to run down the side and under the front.
