I have a Philips T.V and when i plug in the non HD cables its nothing. but there is sound but when i plug in the HDTV cable there is black and white but the HDTV is not on. when i put the non hdtv cable in its a pink screen, when i turn on the HDTV on the xbox it goes off. any help?

Before i got this problem last night the game I was playing (Red Dead Redemption) had like a graphics glitch - all fuzzy and torn pixels - then i turned the machine off and on then i get he glitch ... is that familair to anyone?
