Best version ever heard - no wonder, it's his own tune...

As for those who want to see something: this is from the CD; there doesn't exist a video from this gig, as far as I know.

Every time I listen to this masterpiece of guitar work it sends shivers down my spine...

  • Did Mick ever play Sway live until the Olsen record ? I saw him a few times in the 80's ; audiences would beg for Sway & other Exile \ Sticky Fingers stuff , to no avail.

  • @sgrroiii

Very interesting question. I don't know. But does that matter? Can't imagine there is a better version than this one...

  • killer soloing....

  • the power of the slow groove, patience can be heavy...

  • @kpzrocks Politics!

  • @shidoobee I don't think the Stones even played until not so long ago! I loved the original, then got hit by Alvin Youngblood Heart's superb cover, and now this. A-freaking-mazing. Taylor is just sooooo good!

  • Thanks so much for this recording.

Certainly, Taylor's playing here is brilliant-even better than his playing on the Stones version.

When I first saw that the track was over 7 minutes long, I winced, fearing some self-indulgent soloing. But his solo is really melodic and passionate all the way through.

As for Olson's vocal, it's really strong. I never even heard of her until about-well, 7 minutes and change ago.

  • it took the stones 3 times to get a 2nd guitar player that didn't overshadow them with their overall musicianship..they wouldn't have been nearly as great with-out brian jones or mick taylor and they know it.

  • the sound that comes from his guitar is freaky... I purchased the Rolling Stones issue with the top 100 guitarists. Keith Richards was 5. Mick Taylor was 37??????????????"? Really?????

  • He was better than Keith Richards.. That is for sure!!!! Who joins the Rolling Stones at 20 years of age?????? Are you kidding me? The slide guitar is amazing.......

  • I have not seen Mick. What an amazing guitarist. My loss!!! I was 7 when he played with the Stones. What an amazing talent..

  • Saw Mick at Bearsville in Woodstock,NY 2009? then he cancelled tour. Hung with Max Middletons wife and my girlfriend saw Mick in the hallway very tall had a sore throat !. I also saw him with John Mayall Capitol Theater in Passaic NJ 1982 , we had 6th row seats you can see us holding a sign in video. He played the Les Paul he used to use through Marshall & Ampeg amps awesome !
