Jambalaya Jazz Band at New Orleans Square-Disneyland 2-20-07

Recorded this today (Mardi Gras). Just thought folks would like to get a taste of some of the music at Disneyland on Mardi Gras.

Hey, these guys are great! Do they have any CDs out? I loved their intro before Fantasmic when I was last there.

I don't know if a CD is available in the "real world" but there may be a CD available at the Music and video shop on "Main Street USA". I will check next time I am there.

Ya, at the end of this video, the band leader tosses out some beads to the crowd and then throws some toward the camera and the Grandma in front of me reaches out and catches them. Man, that was hilarious! You can see her arm reach into the picture frame for just a second. Moments like that are why I film stuff. Bwa ha ha ha!

They do have a Mardi Gras show in New Orleans Square. This was from just one of the many acts to play in different parts of the Square throughout the day.

Very true, cerritos. However, remember we're talking about the French Quarter at Disneyland, built in the middle 1950s along with the park.

France was occupied by the Nazis from June 25, 1940 to December 1944. It is likely that flower pots made or hung at that time in France may have been embossed with swastikas.

See, I think when Disney built the park, he bought the cheapest knick-knacs he could from Europe, including these pots. He probably figured nobody would look inspect them in detail.

@bobjfs swastikas were the symbol of the nazis but they also mean other things. nazis borrowed that symbol and turned it into an evil thing. in actuality they go beyond nazism.

Their cd is on the itsaboutmusic website and it's madness! I'd check out Tony Allen or Connie Price & The Keystones for a more noir hip hop feel.

I'm not saying he was, although he did visit Germany in 1935. I know what I saw, and the flower pots in New Orlean's Square had swastikas on them. This was in the late 1970s when a friend of mine worked in Club 33 (which we had the honor of dining in at the time). This dialog has just gotten silly. If you don't believe it, fine. But that doesn't change the fact that I saw what I saw.

They weren't. Disney used many symbols from around the world to decorate. Even though he was himself involved with strange stuff, his advisors, designers, and Roy, were pretty much on top of things. I questioned one of the 1st gen designers, (He is in a non-profit educational corp with me) about that and other things I saw ad Disneyland, Anahiem.

Walt was not a Nazi or any other wierdo per sey. He just lived fifty years ahead of the rest of us!

Oh yes they were. I have pictures somewhere in my archives. There are different versions of the symbol, from Buddhist to Nazi, but this was definitely the Nazi version. There was a lot of this in Europe following the war, and it was particularly inexpensive. I wonder if Disney went abroad and bought them in France?

I have a strange story from 30 years ago. I was walking around looking at the buildings and noticed that the flowerpots hanging from the buildings all had swastikas on them. I almost fell down when I saw them. Who knows where they got them, but the next time I went a few years later, they were all gone. Maybe those stories about Disney were true??
