It burns me up to think that protestant missionaries have been allowed to come and turn them away from their traditional beliefs. Who cares if they don't embrace christianity? Is the boogie man going to haul them away to hell if they don't? No! First a change in religion, then the missionaries discourage them from using long hair, which set them apart from other contemporary native peoples in mexico. Now they look like any other mexican person. Missionaries...stay away please.

This is a great documentary. This effort is absolutely contains the very essence of sharing and experience culture. The approach taken, including a personal attachment to some characters like Chankin (Sorry if i spell it wrong) is remarkable. what i like the most is the loss or evolution of culture seen from different perspectives. This documentary has been of great inspiration to get more involved. I believe the lacandones are a very advanced civilization.
