Which voltage was that? This is a electric arc and not a direct short circuit, correct?

22kJ shot was 2000 Volts and 50kJ shot 3000 volts.
Both shots were dead short circuits at first (capacitor bank output bridged with 1½mm^2 copper wire) Huge current from discharging capacitors turns copper wire into copper metal/oxide vapour which expands very rapidly. Result is rown-black-green smoke and burn marks :)

@Kizmox Ah that makes things clear :) I wondered why the currend is that high any way! Let me guess: The current is calcualted and not measured :) The capacitors must have an extreme low internal resistance to survive this torture. ...
