Unreal Engine 3 - Dissolve Effect

This is a simple dissolve effect created in the GoW version of the Unreal 3 engine. The effects done entirely in the material except for the light which is just teleported to the actors location upon death.

how did you get the gears of war version?? i just started UDK so i am learning

@Future6556 Read the rest of the comments. You have to buy the original Gears of War and the editor comes on the disc. The GoW is a very old version of the Unreal 3 engine, however, and does not come with the many perks that the latest UDK includes. It also crashes...a lot.

Wth? I have gears of war and gears of war 2 and I didn't get this. I want it more than the stupid udk unreal tournament crap. If anyone could give me the gears version or whatever It would be greatly appreciated. I want to make a game similar to gears, not UT3.

@TheRoyalFirebird It's on the Gears of War disc. When you are installing it, you get the option to configure how you install the game, including whether you want to install the editor or not. GoW2 didn't come with the editor. Here's to hoping that Bulletstorm or GoW3 will have an editor included though.

@piranhi do you also have to do the same if you want the combat system from batman arkham asylum for example? or will it be in udk? if not then i guess create it from scratch is possible.

looks great but the light needs to start a little bit later to match the dissolving. but im sure you knew that :)

UDK is a more complete version of the engine.

The editor included with GoW only allows for mods.
