My uncle had to shoot a little girl in Vietnam in defense. And once he told me when he was in a helicopter, gunning. His friend got shot in the head and he thought he was hit. And then he found out it was only his friend's brains mangled on him. You've never experienced any gore though?

UH34D helicopter gunners used the M-60 machinegun. same too the UH1E.
CH46s, CH53s used .50 cals.

0311 is a Grunt.
There was no MOS for helicopter doorgunners.
Qualify, and you flew, no matter if a cook or a clerk, every Marine is a rifleman first.

I don't know why Grunts called the Dog,
a "shuttering shithouse," because when one of them got wounded, or many - they'd call on us to pick them up - a UH-34D could take a hit and keep on ticking.
