I read an interview about this a few years back, and it said she nailed the song her first time and they only had to do the one take. Which, isn't surprising in the least bit. Just adds more charm to the scene.

I'm so happy for her. I've gone through a similar problem (but my voice wasn't butchered after the surgery) Although, I couldn't sing for 3 years. When I finally sang again...words can't describe how it felt.

im lip quivering crying. i cant even imagine how she must feel. if i were to lose my voice it would probably tear my heart in two. the lose of her voice is an insurmountable tragedy.
