NGO Monitor: Human Rights NGOs active in Israel

NGO Monitor Executive Director Gerald Steinberg opens the conference.

Prof. Steinberg mentions Human rights organizations, international human rights day and the current status of international human rights 60 years after the universal declaration of human rights.

The talk focuses on the need to watch the watchers who monitor human rights and to have active debate over NGO accountability. 1500 NGO participated in the NGO Forum at the Durban anti-racism conference which equated Zionism with Racism. Even human rights organisations need to be monitored, no one gets a free ride.

He's absolutely right about the depressing current status of NGOs falsely portraying themselves as "human rights" advocates. It's really, really, really depressing. And I think it's getting worse. NGO monitor has its work cut out for themselves!
