Hyundai 2.7L delta powered Van de Graaff generator

I had this weired thing happen today. I had a SantaFe come into the shop with electrical sparks shooting from the Crank pulley. The serpentine belt is creating static electricity. It is building up in the outter ring of the crank pulley until there is enough power to jump to the timing cover bolt. It pops so loud you can hear it from about 30 yards away (but not too loud in the video because of background noise).
