@urmomis13 Because they both lived, with, relatively minor injuries. Humor is the spice of life, especially in high risk/ stress jobs such as firefighting/ EMS , police, military, coalmining etc.I bet some of the people with the darkest, most morbid sense of humors come from these occupations. No, I gurantee it.

The ladder wasn't at the proper angle, it was too steep. Ironically that probably saved their lives. If it had been further out, they would have hit the sidewalk instead of the grass. No way to tell if he would have fallen if the ladder wasn't so vertical. That's a tough rescue any day.
