Learn to read real-life Japanese with JapanesePod101.com!

Arriving in Japan, the amount of complicated Japanese text on the street, in stores, and on appliances can be overwhelming. With Everyday Kanji, you can break down these signs into simple elements in order to understand even the most complicated Japanese. Take the quiz at the end to see how much you remember!

This episode, we are looking at signs inside the train station. Let's take a look at some of the kanji you'll need to get from place to place in Japan.

Do you recognize the kanji 頂 in this video? We talked about it in our Word Origins video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnOXmcKC0Cw

  • I have to admit, I just can't keep up with these videos, it's too much all at once. I don't know if anyone else has the same problem, but it's really frustrating. x_x

  • Don't worry too much about trying to absorb it all in one go - that -would- be too much (especially if you are new to kanji)! If you are new to all of these words and kanji, pause the video at each slide to give everything more time to sink in. Go back and watch the video every few days and you might find yourself remembering and recognizing the kanji! Ganbatte kudasai★
