I agree. Star Trek is a vehicle to explore the human condition. Star Wars, on the other hand, is six films. Lucas is simply telling a story based in another galaxy. Star Trek is how we, as species, could effectively become providing we put away our childish toys and ways of thinking. In the 1960s Kirk was kissing a African American woman. She's beautiful. The sponsors of the day were up in arms. Today it is common. Good job Gene.
i think it can't really be compared. star wars is just 3 good movies and 3 shitty new movies to sell moar toys and merchandise while startrek got hundereds of episodes, several shows and 11 movies. i love both and i agree with the video
well said, not sure about the reboots approach, but ultimately star trek is a Utopian human society exploring space. and its presented in a very cerebral way. star wars is about a boy who learns magic to defeat the evil magic overlords, dont get me wrong i love both of them, but wars is NOT about tech, even the stats of the ships were made AFTER the movies were made, and truth be told the numbers dont add up but it doesnt matter, star wars was never about that, flaming is pointless.
Exactly. Star trek is science fiction with world history and sociology/psychology mixed in, whereas Star Wars is fantasy infused with philosophy/mytholgy mixed in that's more in line with Lord of the Rings etc. That being said, if it hypotheically were to happen, the best way to do it would be to have various groups from 24th century Star Trek somehow get transported to a long time ago in a galaxy far away and it would put the villians of both franchises against the heroes of both titles.
@Idazmi7 "I was talking about Trek. You listened for a bit, then changed the subject."
So it wasn't you who said, "Lasers don't affect Federation shields. Federation Shields are also magnetic. Blaster weapons cannot penetrate "magnetic seals" at all." And after you said that, u went rambling on about federation shit. However, Im not obligated to discuss federation shit with u, and I chose to inquire about your Star Wars weapons claims.
@DigitalAlpine I was talking about Trek. You listened for a bit, then changed the subject. I'll humor you for awhile. (You could have countered with Star Wars info, yourself)
SW ships are said to be "made of" neutronium. The Star Destroyers in particular each have 20 turbolasers, each turbolaser being capable of firing superheated plasma = 22.5 kilotons (22500 tons) of TNT per shot. They are said to travel at 996,000 times the speed of light. They carry 72 tie-fighters, and 5000 stormtroopers.
@Idazmi7 "trying to make me look stupid so as to disregard my earlier "ST firepower" comments"
You make yourself look stupid since I'd already said, "We're not discussing what a Trek ship can do, but what Star Wars weapons are capable of." If anything is growing old, it's my ability to tolerate someone who can't follow a discussion.

Now I chose to dismiss your entire conversation.

@DigitalAlpine However, "G - Canon" cannot support those claims.
