Amen Brother! It kills me that people reading the shack defend it by proclaiming it to be fictional. These same people will, in the next breath, tell how much it changed their life. I'm sure it does just that! But just like I told all those who voted for our current president, be sure of this; the change you get may not be the change you want! My trust is in God's holy word. Holy, perfect and sufficient!

The Shack is helping a lot of non christians understand God's unconditional love, forgiveness and the Trinity -which the CHURCH has really really MESSED UP, the book doesn't replace the Bible it is just a story of Gods great LOVE....

Speaking of keeping people from reading books, the most important one to prevent them from looking at is The Bible. You should start there. Oh, but I am overlooking the fact that most Christians haven't even bothered to read much of it. I'm sure that if they did, they would realize what a bunch of hokey garbage it is.

"One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. ...But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ." (Romans 14:5-6.10)

2) Adams: "But if you reject a penal substitution that Christ died as a penalty for our sins, it seems like that is the, that is the Christian faith."
Young: "I don't know if you're aware, but that's a huge debate that's going on in theology right now within the evangelical community."
Young: "how do we understand it? And how do we define what exactly took place? And Im saying, that there is a huuuuuge amount of disagreement among theologians, about what all that means."

A quote from the transcript of this radio interview between Kendall Adams and Young reads:
(1) Adams: "I take it that you... wouldn't agree that the cross was a place of punishment for our sin."
Young: "No. I don't, I am not a penal substitution... reformation... point of view."
Adams: "But isn't that the heart of the gospel? Is that the heart of the gospel?"
Young: "No! Ha, no! The heart of the gospel is that we are, are so pursued, the heart of the gospel is in Ephesians 1:5."

dont mess up what says in the book. the author of the shack never said that God is equal with us as humans; no way! he said the exact opposite, in the book, Papa explains to Mack clearly how no man can ever figure out or become what God is and how powerful and good He is.

His entire purpose is writing this book was to show how God is "what WE need him to be". This is not a Biblical understanding of God. Also, in the major discourse on hierarchy there is a statement that says man is in equal relationship with God. Here is the quote which presents this idea:

Our relationship with God is not about performance or us having to please Him, I am not a bully, not some self-centered little deity insisting on my own way. (John 14:6, never mind that)
I am good, and I desire only what is best for you. You cannot find that through guilt or condemnation or coercion, only through a relationship of love. (Romans 1-3 is a waste)

Isaiah 66:12 (New Living Translation) 12 This is what the Lord says: I will give Jerusalem a river of peace and prosperity. The wealth of the nations will flow to her. Her children will be nursed at her breasts, carried in her arms, and held on her lap
This is God talking...about his people.. God can utilize whatever form He needs to to reach people... No human reasoning will make sense to us.

First of all quit twisting scripture and making out to say something it's not. Imagery is different than allegory. God can use what ever He wishes, but He will not say things through those means which contradict His established Word. Finally, read a literal translation not a paraphrase when trying to prove a point using scripture.
