  • I bet 3985's new boiler will be swapped out of one of the other Challengers

  • tropicalfishswim

if another challenger had a working boiler, then it is likely that it would also be running. Union Pacific also has a sister challenger locomotive used to pick parts from for 3985. Evidently, its boiler is far out of the way for restoration.

  • @SierraRailway Neil Vodden is the legendary engineer for the 2472, ever since the 40's and mid 50's and he became the engineer for the 2472 again when it was restored in 1991 and in 1992 when it participated in the 1992 nrhs convention in San Jose and the Eath train later in the year. he continued on from 1994 to 1997 when it was the year he died.

  • @HaloCE14 Alright. First off, I fully understand your reason why you couldn't make it. However, that's not what I asked you. You comparing Railfair99 with Train Festival 2009 in your previous comment is making me ask myself, "Who gives you rights to compare 2 events from 2 different time periods that you never even attended either at all?"

  • @SierraRailway

The original engineer of 2472 back when it was in its hay-day. I remember him. R.I.P

  • @HaloCE14 Conclusion; before you decide to make a smart ass and idiotic comment, think next time!

  • @HaloCE14 Another subject I must point out, have you been to Train Festival 2009? Heck, I doubt you been to Railfair91 at all. The idea that your comparing 2 events that you have not even experience at all makes you look like a total idiot. I haven't been to Railfair91(For specific reasons), but I was at Train Festival 2009 and I enjoyed it. I thank Jason Johnson for putting together a QUALITY event during a time of a recession and mix feelings about steam operations.

  • @HaloCE14 Picnic walk? Is your brain on vacation? You have to remember that your comparing two events from two different time periods. Times where different, and so where the views of transporting the steam engines across the country.

I know, Trainboy94 told me about 4 months ago. if they don't give a mind to do a railfair every ten years like they're supposed to, than they should post a bulletin saying that it happens when it happens, and not keep people guessing.

  • @SierraRailway Railfair 2011 has been postponed again to 2020.
