The documentary 'Thinking Cities' deals with one of the most dramatic societal trends happening today: urbanization. The world population is expected to soar to more than 9 billion people by 2050, with roughly 70 percent living in cities. At the same time, Information Communications Technology (ICT) is extending its reach.

These parallel trends are intersecting at a time in which the world faces serious economic, environmental, and social challenges in achieving a more sustainable development. Thinking Cities explores the challenges and opportunities of urbanization in the Networked Society.

This is amazing, but can we lose the fucking soundtrack with the marimba? When's H.I. McDunnough going to start the voiceover, I mean come on, yo! Played out sounds. New city of the future needs music of the future.

Awesome video, I wish it was longer. I learned quit a lot in less than 20 minutes! Now it's time to work on my own city planning design.

Good video. Given access to planning and alternative energies, I have no doubt that we can create magnificent future cities featuring astounding high tech, yet still cherishing nature, gardens, parks, and artworks.

The horrid designs of deceptions like UN Agenda 21 however have no such benevolent aims. It is we the people working together that can create this better tomorrow for all people. And not just the benefit of a few.

It's only appropriate cause ICT, along with social media and convenient access to information plays a big part in shaping urban society today.

very vague. just another feelgood likable video to boost ericsson's image, spinning off all the mayor themes and buzzwords to the generic apple-ish xylophone soundtrack (I can almost hear Jony Ive-I guess you're aiming for the same if not their demographic?)

give us something real, we're fed up with the PR BS, we see right through it.

Note to Geoffrey West: no, you did not invent the scientific analysis of cities. Been there, done that. Like, 150 years ago?

    a) check out “Christaller's Central-Place Theory” in Wikipedia,

    b) yes the economies of scale make cities efficient but there is such a thing as a “diseconomy” of scale,

    c) pretending that humans are not part of the homeostasis of the natural order of Earth’s ecosystems will doom us, and

    d) thus, there is a maximum size to a city, beyond which it is unsustainable.

Very sneaky how they quietly referred to "ICT" several times during video.

Is this really just more advertising for Ericsson?
