A must see... I visited in about 1987, between college and medical school w/ my nephew who is 7 years my junior, and at the time, not knowing too much about the Lakota history, etc., ...beautiful place (SD/Black Hills) in the summertime... I'm reading a book called "Black Hills" about a 10 year old Lakota boy who "counted coup" on Col. George A. Custer at Little BigHorn and had his spirit transmogrified into him at that moment of death -- a little on the weird side at first, but of interest.

I never noticed that they didn't really finish Lincoln's left side of his face. It's almost like they said "Ah that's good enough."

@BeauPeap Uhm...the Indian Removal Act was signed into law by Andrew Jackson in 1830 - some 20 years after Jefferson was president.

It's pure irony that President Jefferson, of all presidents, is honored in the Mt. Rushmore sculpture in the heart of the Lakota sacred Black Hills, while he was the US President who was most influential in developing policies to remove the Indians from their traditional homelands
